Job summary
The Personal Care Aide supports clients with daily personal care and essential living activities to help them maintain dignity, comfort, and independence. Success in this role involves providing safe, consistent, and compassionate assistance while accurately observing and communicating changes in a client's condition.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal hygiene and daily routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support client mobility by safely assisting with transfers, walking, and physical repositioning according to care guidelines.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and provide feeding assistance when needed.
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and essential errands to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Remind clients to take prescribed medications in line with care plans and relevant local regulations.
- Monitor client well-being, note changes in physical or mental status, and promptly report concerns to supervisors or healthcare coordinators.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records of care provided and daily client observations.
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a caregiving, personal care, or direct support role, or completion of relevant personal care training.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain certification prior to start.
- Ability to safely perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including standing, lifting, and transferring individuals.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and care teams.
Preferred qualifications
- State, national, or regional certification as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Prior experience working with older adults or individuals with physical disabilities.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation if required for travel between assignments.
