How a role play works
Step 1 of 5

Describe the conversation.

Say who the person is, who they talk to, and what success looks like. Or start from a template.

Describing the scenario

“A renewal call. Her budget was just cut by 40%.”

Two ways to use it

One role play. Hiring and training.

The same scenario works for both. Use it to test candidates, then use it again to help your team get better.

For hiring

Hire people who can handle the job.

See how candidates actually perform in the conversations the role depends on, before you make an offer.

  • Add candidates straight from an AI Interviewer, or invite anyone by email
  • Every candidate gets the same scenario and the same scoring
  • Compare candidates on one score out of 100, with evidence
  • Must-pass criteria flag skills you can't compromise on
How role play interviews work
For training

Help your team practise before the real thing.

Let new hires and existing staff rehearse hard conversations with an AI character, without risking a real customer or colleague.

  • Invite team members by email, no account needed
  • Practise discovery calls, objections, escalations, and feedback talks
  • See strengths and gaps for each person, linked to the recording
  • Get a suggested better response wherever someone scored low
See it in action

From a short description to a scored conversation.

Build the scenario once, let people talk it through, and review the result with your team.

What you get

Everything you need to run realistic role plays.

No scripts to write and no colleague playing the customer. Just a consistent conversation that everyone gets the same way.

Set up in minutes

Describe the situation in plain words, or start from a template. The AI drafts the scenario, the character, and the scoring for you to review.

A character that feels real

Give the character a name, voice, backstory, and personality. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard to set how tough the conversation is.

Hidden facts reward good questions

The character only shares some details when the person asks the right questions, so you see who listens before they pitch.

Scored on what you care about

You decide what good looks like. Each call gets a score out of 100 against your criteria, plus a clear recommendation.

Feedback you can coach with

Every report lists strengths and gaps, and suggests a better response for any skill that scored low.

Works in 16 languages

Run role plays in the language your candidates and team actually work in, and export any report as a PDF.

Three steps from idea to insight.

Set it up once. Every person gets the same character, the same situation, and the same scoring, so results are fair and easy to compare.

01

Describe the conversation

Say who the person is, who they're talking to, and what success looks like. Or pick a template.

02

Invite people

Send a link to candidates or team members. They join a live voice call with the AI character.

03

Review and act

Read the score, strengths, and gaps, listen to the key moments, then decide who to hire or what to coach.

AI sales role play scenarios

Rehearse the conversations your roles depend on.

Start from a template or describe your own. Role plays fit any role where how someone talks matters as much as what they know.

Discovery call

Find out what the buyer needs before pitching.

Cold call

Earn a busy prospect's attention in the first minute.

Pricing objection

Hold value when the buyer pushes back on price.

Negotiation

Trade, rather than discount, to reach a deal.

Renewal at risk

Uncover what changed and rebuild the case for value.

Customer escalation

Calm an upset customer and solve the problem.

Difficult feedback

Give a teammate clear, fair feedback and agree next steps.

Technical troubleshooting

Work through an incident with a stressed customer.

Works for any industry. Describe your own situation, for example an insurance renewal, a medical sales visit, or a retail customer complaint.

AI role play vs traditional role play

Why teams stop asking managers to play the buyer.

Manager-led role plays work, but they are hard to schedule and hard to compare. AI role play gives every person the same conversation.

AI Sales Role Play FAQ

What is AI sales role play?

AI sales role play is a live voice conversation between a person and an AI character that plays a buyer, a customer, or a teammate. The character stays in role and reacts to what the person says, and the call is scored against the criteria you set. Teams use it to hire people who can sell and to train reps before real calls.

Can I use role plays for training, not just hiring?

Yes. Invite team members by email to practise conversations like discovery calls, objections, or difficult feedback. Each report shows their strengths and gaps, links them to the recording, and suggests a better response where they scored low, so managers know what to coach.

How does a role play interview work?

You choose a scenario from the job, such as a cold call or a renewal at risk, and invite candidates by email or straight from an AI Interviewer. Each candidate reads a short brief, joins a live call with the AI character, and gets one attempt. You get a score out of 100, strengths, gaps, the recording, and the transcript, so you can compare candidates fairly.

What are good sales role play scenarios?

Popular scenarios include a discovery call, a cold call to a busy prospect, a pricing objection, a negotiation, a renewal at risk, and an upset customer escalation. Start from a template or describe your own, for example an insurance renewal or a medical sales visit.

How do I create a role play?

Describe the situation in your own words or pick a template, such as a SaaS discovery call or a pricing objection. The AI drafts the brief, the character, and the scoring. You review it, adjust anything, and publish.

How is a role play scored?

Each skill you choose is scored from 0 to 5 against what a strong and a weak answer look like, then combined into one score out of 100. You can mark skills as must pass. There is no pass mark: you decide what happens next.

Can I try AI sales role play for free?

Yes. Start a free trial, build a role play from a short description, and run scored sessions with your trial credits. Calls that can't be scored don't use credits.

What do people need to take a role play?

Just the link from their email, a working microphone, and a stable internet connection. No account is needed. You choose whether the camera is on and whether they must use a laptop. Each person gets one attempt at each role play, in any of 16 languages.

Am I charged for calls that can't be scored?

No. If a call is too short, has no conversation, or ends because of a technical problem, it is marked not scored and doesn't use credits.

Practise the conversation before it counts.

Build your first role play from a short description, then use it to hire or to train. Every call comes with a score, a recording, and a transcript.
