Why teams look for Second Nature alternatives
Second Nature has a 4.7 G2 rating, and even competitors call it "a serious platform" with "the strongest LMS story in this category" (PitchMonster). The usual reasons buyers look elsewhere:
- Quote-only pricing with a reported minimum. Second Nature doesn't publish prices; Capterra lists "Contact vendor". Outdoo, a competitor, reports $50 per active user per month and a minimum annual contract of around $20,000. Whatfix, another competitor, cites Vendr data of $19,000 to $26,700 a year. See the full Second Nature pricing breakdown.
- Per-user-month pricing suits employees, not candidates. As reported, one credit covers one user for one month, which is built for people you train over time.
- Scoring and realism complaints. G2 review themes include "Inaccurate Information" (21 mentions) and "Learning Curve" (15). Reviews quoted by Outdoo say the AI can expect answers phrased a particular way. A Capterra reviewer wrote that "talking to a robot feels a little... robotic".
- Hiring mechanics aren't documented. Second Nature's HR page markets AI interviews that give each applicant an objective score, but doesn't explain candidate links, ATS integration or anti-cheating.
- Video avatars are new and limited. Second Nature says video avatars are available for English-language, single-persona role plays; multi-persona and scripted role plays aren't supported yet.
What to look for in an alternative
- Pricing you can see, and a model that matches how you'll use it: per seat for a stable team, per session for hiring.
- Scoring you control: weighted criteria, must-pass rules, evidence you can share.
- Realism: difficulty, personality, hidden information, avatars.
- Training features if you need them: repeat practice, certifications, leaderboards, LMS.
- A candidate flow if you hire: links without accounts, one attempt per person, comparable scores.
- Languages for multilingual teams.

The 7 best Second Nature alternatives
1. InterviewFlowAI: best for screening job candidates
What it is: an AI interview platform with scored AI voice role plays, launched in October 2026. Describe the scenario and the AI drafts the character, brief and criteria. Candidates join through a unique link with no account and get one attempt. You control difficulty, six personality sliders and up to 15 hidden facts. Reports score 3 to 12 weighted criteria into a 0–100 score, flag must-pass failures, and give a recommendation from Strong yes to No with recording, transcript, timestamped evidence and a PDF.
Pricing: $1.99 per scored role play. Month to month, no seat fees, 7-day free trial. See InterviewFlowAI pricing.
Where it falls short: it isn't an LMS or training suite. One attempt per person per role play, no certifications or leaderboards, no real-call scoring, one character per call, and very few third-party reviews so far.
2. Hyperbound: best for sales training with real-call scoring
What it is: an AI sales role-play platform with Practice and Perform plans. Perform scores real customer calls; Practice connects to Seismic, Highspot and WorkRamp. Hyperbound supports multi-party role plays, certifications, leaderboards and 25+ languages, and documents a recruiting flow where applicants use a shared bot link.
Pricing: free plan with prebuilt role plays; paid plans quoted per user. Vendr reports a median of $12,000 a year.
Where it falls short: no published paid prices, and Practice and Perform are separate licences. Its hiring docs don't cover ATS integration or how candidates are licensed.
G2: 4.9.
3. Mindtickle: best for an all-in-one enablement suite
What it is: a revenue enablement platform where AI role play sits alongside an LMS, content, certifications, a Readiness Index and conversation intelligence. Role plays run in 25+ languages, and "Real Deal" role plays are generated from CRM deal data.
Pricing: quote only. Vendr reports a median of $44,356 a year plus onboarding fees of $10,000 to $50,000 or more. ZoomInfo, a competitor, says two-way AI role play costs extra beyond the base packages.
Where it falls short: heavy for smaller teams; 1–3 year contracts.
G2: 4.7.
4. Yoodli: best for company-wide communication practice
What it is: an AI role-play and communication coaching platform used across sales, management, customer support and public speaking. Integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Docebo, Workday and Highspot, and it's SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.
Pricing: Starter free (5 lifetime sessions); Pro $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month billed yearly; Team and Enterprise quoted.
Where it falls short: no employer-side candidate screening; its interview feature helps job seekers practise. Team pricing isn't published.
G2: 4.8.
5. Exec: best for structured programmes with published prices
What it is: an AI training suite with voice and video role plays, up to 4 characters, group role plays, call scoring, courses, certifications, leaderboards and LMS links (LTI 1.3).
Pricing: Free (3 seats); Starter $20 per seat a month (5-seat minimum); Professional $39 per seat a month (15-seat minimum); billed yearly.
Where it falls short: training only, with seat minimums and annual billing.
G2: 4.8.
6. PitchMonster: best for mid-market sales teams in Europe
What it is: role play, call analysis and AI coaching with phone, avatar and screen-share modes, 29 languages and EU data residency by default. It has a hiring page with a coachability retest and offers an extra 10% off for teams switching from Second Nature.
Pricing: quoted per seat on a 12-month standard contract; most teams start with 5 or more seats. Capterra lists $39 and $49 per user a month.
Where it falls short: prices aren't on its own site; hiring mechanics (links, ATS, anti-cheating) aren't documented.
G2: 4.9.
7. Solidroad: best for support teams hiring and training in many languages
What it is: a customer-experience training and QA platform. Simulations run by phone, chat, email or video in 35 to 36 languages, and the same scorecards can grade real conversations. It has a hiring mode: candidates use a shared link with no account, you choose one attempt or a set number, and scores are comparable across applicants.
Pricing: quote only. Vendr reports a median of $23,175 a year.
Where it falls short: focused on CX roles; no ATS integration documented; the help centre suggests starting with training before hiring.
G2: 4.5.
Which alternative fits your use case
- You're hiring for sales, support or team-lead roles: InterviewFlowAI, or Solidroad if you hire customer-support agents at high volume and want QA too. For more on running these screens, see role play interviews for hiring.
- You're training a sales team: Hyperbound for real-call scoring, PitchMonster for EU teams, Exec for programmes with published prices.
- You're replacing Second Nature across the enterprise: Mindtickle is the closest like-for-like suite.
- You want low-cost individual practice: Yoodli's individual plans start at $8 a month billed yearly.
When to stay with Second Nature
Stay if you train large sales or service teams inside an LMS such as Cornerstone, Docebo or SuccessFactors, rely on certifications and gamification, or value its large independent review base and EU hosting. None of the hiring-first tools here replaces that.
How we chose these tools
We included tools that sell AI role play for customer-facing roles and publish product information we could check. We read each vendor's own pages, G2, Capterra and Vendr on 11 October 2026. Second Nature's own pricing page returned an error when we checked, so its prices here come from Capterra, Outdoo and Whatfix; the last two sell competing products. InterviewFlowAI is our product, and its limitations are listed in the same format as the others. For the wider market, see our guide to AI role play software.
